Please find below the first NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report, week ending October 7, 2023 (MMWR week 40) for the 2023-2024 season. Report Highlights:-
- Influenza activity level is low statewide.
- Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are higher than last week and lower than this week last year while Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are lower than last week and lower than this week last year.
- There have been zero confirmed influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.
- Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 67.35%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (14.29%), B (14.29%), and A(H3N2) (4.08%).
- Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season an equal number of A (H1N1)pdm09 and influenza B have been reported.
