Please find below the NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report for the week ending February 3, 2024 (MMWR week 5).

Report Highlights:

  •  Influenza activity level is at high statewide.
  • Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are higher than last week and higher than this week last year.
  • Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are also higher than last week and higher than this week last year.
  • There have been two confirmed influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.
  • Of the 87 influenza outbreaks reported this season, 18 were in the last three weeks.
  • Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 64.62%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (19.27%), B (11.58%), and A(H3N2) (4.53%).
  • Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season the most frequently reported is A (H1N1)pdm09.
