Public Health Info: Influenza Surveillance Report - February 17, 2024

Please find below the NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report for the week ending February 17, 2024 (MMWR week 7).

Report Highlights:

  • Influenza activity level is at a high statewide.
  • Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
  • Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are also lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
  • There have been two confirmed influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.
  • Of the 110 influenza outbreaks reported this season, 18 were in the last three weeks.
  • Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 62.30%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (17.90%), B (14.53%), and A(H3N2) (5.26%).
  • Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season, the most frequently reported is A (H1N1)pdm09.
