The Department of Defense (DOD) recently honored Douglas Finefrock, D.O., vice-chair of the Emergency Department at Hackensack University Medical Center and founding director of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the medical center, with its Patriot’s Award.

Dr. Finefrock was nominated for the Patriot’s Award by Anthony Bells, a physician assistant in Hackensack University Medical Center’s emergency department and a major in the U.S. Army Reserve, who is currently on his fifth deployment overseas.

Dr. Finefrock called the Patriot’s Award “a profound honor” and noted that reservists “are vital members of our care team.”
