Welcome Dr Dirk de Haas

Dr. Dirk de Haas has been named the Interim Medical Director Emergency Medicine at JFK University Medical Center and will assume the position held by Dr. Sam LaCapra while searching for a new permanent Medical Director and Director of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. de Haas is a member of the TeamHealth Special Operations Division and the Performance Improvement Team. He has more than 20 years of emergency medicine experience and extensive experience providing medical leadership to emergency departments in transition. His special areas of expertise and interest include patient experience, throughput and provider engagement.

ABOUT DR. DE HAAS

In addition to his depth of medical and ER leadership experience, Dr. de Haas is a Reserve Duty U.S. Navy Medical Officer with the rank of Commander U.S. Navy Medical Corps.. He served five years of active duty with the U.S. Navy as part of the Health Professions Scholarship program. He makes his permanent home in California. His hobbies and interests include being an instrument rated pilot with extensive aerobatics training and serving as a “Ring Doctor” for Muay Thai Fight competitions. His most unique claim to fame is his role as a medical extra for the television series “The Mob Doctor” in 2012 where he also provided technical consultation.
