Hackensack University Medical Center welcomes thoracic surgeon Michael Spallone, M.D., MBS, to its thoracic surgery team.
Dr. Spallone earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). He then earned his medical degree from Ross University in Portsmouth, Dominica, where he received the highest honors. He completed his general surgery residency at Morristown Medical Center, earning the distinction of administrative chief resident. Dr. Spallone joins the hospital’s thoracic surgery team after completing a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Spallone has volunteered his time with various non-profit organizations at home and abroad, including Unidad Hospitalaria Movil in Latino America, which facilitates medical service trips throughout Latin America, and the NJ Seeds Program, which provides students from low-income communities with resources to gain admission to higher education institutions.
