Bayshore Now Offers Y90 Liver Cancer Treatment

What You Need To Know

The Y-90 procedure, a new, highly targeted treatment for inoperable liver cancer, is now available at Bayshore.

How It Works

Peter S. Doss, M.D.

Y-90 radioembolization is a minimally invasive procedure that combines embolization and radiation therapy.

It safely allows a larger dose of radiation to be used than conventional radiation treatments permit. Patients are discharged within four to six hours after the procedure and may resume their normal activities within two to three days.

"This method allows us to target the cancer while sparing the surrounding healthy tissues," said Peter S. Doss, M.D., an Interventional Radiologist and director of Vascular/Interventional Radiology. "It’s a much more focused approach than traditional chemotherapy.”

Where It's Available

Y-90 procedures are also available at Hackensack University Medical Center, JFK Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center and Mountainside Medical Center.
