Southern Ocean Expands Catheterization Lab with CuttingEdge Technology

What you need to know

Southern Ocean Medical Center recently expanded its cardiac catheterization lab and interventional radiology procedures through a $1.5 million investment, adding a GE Innova IGS 540 angiography suite.

Designed to expand the available interventional procedures, such as minimally invasive peripheral vascular and endovascular procedures and aortic aneurysm repair, this advanced technology enables the medical center to diagnose and treat more patients with cardiovascular disease.

"With this latest cutting-edge technology, diagnosis of heart, artery and valve disease as well as evaluation for interventional procedures are now accessible to achieve the best patient outcomes. By providing a unique combination of superior image clarity and reduced radiation, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, and cardiologists have the best tools and equipment necessary to provide numerous state-of-the-art interventional procedures in a safe environment.”

Arthur DeMarsico, D.O., FACOS, RPVI, vascular Ssrgeon and vice chairman of the Department of Surgery , Vascular Surgery and Vein Center of Southern Ocean Medical Center.

A celebratory ribbon cutting was held July 24 at Southern Ocean Medical Center to celebrate the opening of the new Cardiac, Vascular and Interventional Radiology Suite and, to acknowledge the grateful gift by community member, Michael Armellino, toward the medical center’s expansion.
