  • It is one of only 13 New Jersey hospitals with this designation and the only one in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

About The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is an international health program that promotes evidence-based infant feeding practices to ensure all families receive the education and support needed to meet their infant feeding goals, ultimately improving the health of women and children in the community.

JSUMC joins a growing list of more than 20,000 Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers throughout the world, only 602 of which are in the United States. These facilities provide an environment that supports breastfeeding while respecting every woman’s right to make the best decision for herself and her family.

Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center in Middlesex County has also earned the Baby-Friendly designation from Baby-Friendly USA.
We are extremely proud to be recognized for the hard work of our team members throughout the Baby-Friendly process in receiving this exclusive designation. Our team is committed to providing the support, education and resources families need to successfully initiate breastfeeding and continue breastfeeding when they leave our care." -- Vito Buccellato, MPA, LNHA, president and chief hospital executive, JSUMC
