HMH Hospitals Achieve 2021 Healthgrades Womens Care Excellence Awards

- Six HMH hospitals have been named as recipients of the Healthgrades 2021 Women’s Care Excellence Awards. Hackensack University Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center, JFK Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center - Perth Amboy, Riverview Medical Center and Ocean Medical Center were awarded with 5-star ratings for providing exceptional women’s care in labor and delivery.
- Additionally, Raritan Bay Medical Center - Perth Amboy was among the top 10 percent of hospitals evaluated for Gynecologic Surgery.
Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems, analyzed all-payer state data for 16 states for the years 2017 through 2019. A 5-star rating indicates that a hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected, and places them among the national leaders in that service area.

HMH's efforts on addressing maternal health
Hackensack Meridian Health is focused on delivering high-quality, equitable care to women across the region and is on the forefront of addressing maternal health, including:
- Launched Maternal Health Blue Ribbon Task Force to address unacceptable disparities in maternal outcomes in New Jersey.
- Reduced C-section rates throughout the network from 25.9% to 19.0% in the last three years.
- Hackensack Meridian Health worked with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to engage the nation’s leading experts in maternal health and labor.
- Every hospital in the network participates in the New Jersey Perinatal Quality Collaborative (NJPQC), a New Jersey Department of Health initiative to improve maternal and infant quality and safety.
- Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine is deeply committed to eliminating racial and socio-economic disparity in health outcomes. A key feature of the innovative curriculum is the focus on community-based care and the social determinants of health.
