2023 Flu Vaccination Program Important Dates and Information

What You Need To Know

HMH is kicking off the flu program earlier this year than in the past in order to ensure team members have ample time to comply with this important initiative. As a reminder, the flu vaccine is a mandatory condition of employment at HMH, even for those team members who are currently working from home.  In addition, New Jersey law requires health care workers to get a flu shot, unless they have a medical contraindication. Here’s what you should know:
  • September 11 - October 6: Exemption requests must  be submitted through MyWay-PeopleSoft by following these instructions.
    • Note: Exemption requests will not be accepted after October 6, 2023, except from new team members during their onboarding process or from team members returning from a Leave of Absence.
  • Beginning September 18: HMH will offer flu vaccinations at our hospital sites.
    • To find a vaccination time and location that is convenient for you, check out your local Flu Vaccination Schedule. Additional times and dates will be added in the coming weeks.
    • If you receive your vaccine at a non-HMH facility, please follow these instructions to provide the details of your vaccination status in MyWay-PeopleSoft. This includes team members who receive a flu shot at an HMH primary care physician or at an HMH pharmacy.
      • NOTE: Proof must be verifiable and include team member name, date of birth, department, job title, phone number, vaccine manufacturer, lot number, expiration date, date received, injection site and name of who/where it was administered (e.g., physician, pharmacy).
  • December 1: Deadline for all team members to be compliant with the HMH flu policy.
    • HMH will be holding all team members accountable for the on-time compliance with this mandatory condition of employment.
    • Failure to comply with the flu policy by December 1, 2023, will be considered non-compliance and will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the policy, up to and including termination.
Getting vaccinated this year is more important than ever and will help to better protect you, your family, our patients and our communities. Remember, the best way to prevent flu and help protect your friends and family is by getting a flu shot each year.
